I have navigated daunting medical challenges and have had four spinal surgeries and was screwed with NASA caliber titanium screws in my vertebrae. I grew up making lots of doctors scratch their heads. My family and I migrated to America when I was nine. I was short, different, brown, and barely spoke English. I took refuge in my Art. I have since then become a filmmaker and a professor at a film school. My creative vibe seeps into every crack in my life and I enjoy littering my path with laughs. My sense of humor and my creativity have been the rocket boosters that have kept me in orbit. I want to share my message- creativity and humor can overcome great adversity and lay a path to success professionally and not so professionally.

Upon graduating from New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, Katie worked for LaForce + Stevens, a prominent PR agency in New York City. Originally a side-business, Katie launched Three Jane, a personalized accessory brand, and the Map Necklace out of her downtown apartment.
