I was raised in Miami Beach, Florida, and ten years ago, I left the corporate world behind to follow my passion for storytelling and history. With a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management and Tourism from Florida International University, I blend my expertise in travel with my deep love for Miami’s vibrant culture. I also studied Improvisation and Sketch Comedy at Second City in Hollywood, California, which helps me bring energy and engagement to my tours. Meeting new people, sharing the hidden gems of Miami, and creating unforgettable experiences are what I love most. As an avid traveler, I’ve explored extensively and enjoy yoga, theater, stand-up comedy, and Toastmasters, always seeking new ways to connect with others through storytelling.

I started my dance journey with ballet and tap at age 4, continuing with tap until age 8 and ballet until I was 12. With no money to continue, I wouldn’t resume dancing – this time, east coast swing and Lindy Hop – until I was in my early 20s. This lasted for the greater part of the swing revival that hit the west coast in the late 1990s – early aughts, before I took another nearly 2-decade break. At age 48, I reentered the dance world, yet again, with tap in 2022. Since then, I have studied Argentine Tango, jazz, various styles of ballroom, and still currently study hip hop, tap, and ballet. Twice a year, I participate in hip hop and tap performances. My experiences in social dance are too numerous to list, but have included a Toronto Lindy Hop exchange, milongas in Buenos Aires, participating in ballroom dances while on vintage Transatlantic crossings, and, of course, every live music playing swing event I could get to. I am also a former human relations journalist, scriptwriter, and author of more than 20 works of published fiction.

I’m an author, science educator, and speaker focused on helping people make sense of complexity in a world shaped by rapid change and emerging technologies. I serve as Director of the Center for STEM Professional Learning at Scale and Clinical Assistant Professor at Boston University, where my work bridges the worlds of science education, systems design, and AI in learning. I’m the author of Making Sense of Sensemaking (Teachers College Press and NSTA Press), which reached #1 on Amazon in STEM Education. I also founded NGSSPhenomena.com, a global resource platform that has supported over 5 million educators in 100+ countries. My talks are designed to spark curiosity, deepen thinking, and help audiences—from teachers to CEOs—grapple with the real challenges of learning, leading, and innovating in complex environments. Before academia, I spent nearly a decade as a live, on-air science communicator for CBS in Connecticut. That media background still shapes how I engage audiences: with energy, clarity, and stories that stick. I work with schools, nonprofits, and businesses seeking keynote talks, workshop facilitation, or strategic learning design around sensemaking, science, and the human side of AI.
