At four years old, I took my for my first airplane ride. In my dad words, “The kid hasn’t stopped talking about it since.” My dad was the only person in my life who never told me I couldn’t do something. He always said, “It’s a choice to believe you can or you can’t.” We once built a plastic model airplane together. When he wasn’t looking, I tossed it—expecting it to fly. Dad wasn’t so thrilled! When I was finally tall enough to reach the rudder pedals, I started taking flying lessons and set my sights on an aviation career. After seeing a pilot’s watch—a Breitling—I made it my first big goal. Years later, when I became a Director of Operations for a charter company, I finally got that Breitling—in a spectacular way. My father also taught me to play chess. He explained what a gambit is, and that life is just a game, learn the moves.
