I have a background in formal and informal education. My experience has placed me on stages in front of youth from pre-school to college age, parents, educators, and other affiliates. I have trained others, written stage shows, and partnered with organizations to enhance outreach. I have worked with "at-risk" youth, built trusting relationships, and mentored and advised those moving through substance dependence and role confusion. I have a Bachelor's in Biology, Master's in Urban Sustainability, Master's in Leadership and Change, and PhD in Leadership in Change. I have two special needs English bulldogs who participate in my classroom on a daily basis.

I am an entrepreneur, activist, and speaker who love to impact the world and make a difference. I chose to be a speaker because I believe in the power of words. To me, I think words can either destroy or inspire people to be their best. I want to use the power of my words to inspire people to be the best they can ever be. Inspiring people give me internal joy.

In my TEDx Talk, "SILICAN: Your Antidote to the Silicon Valley Grind," and in my coaching practice and wellness writing, I encourage people to: pursue balance in the four key areas of self; create boundaries for the people and input they allow into their personal lives; and commit to bravery in both showing up to others authentically and in taking risks for personal growth. Whether you're looking for a wellness speaker to inspire your team or a facilitator of an interactive workshop that includes self-assessment and meaningful dialogue, it would be my honor and pleasure to help your team embody this truth: "If you want to change your culture, you have to change your conversations." In my experience, no topic is more important than the wellness of your most precious asset: people.

"Suicide is the second leading cause of death among young people ages 10-34. I created Life Letters to help families and communities take action to prevent suicide. For young people, it's a safe way to say they need help. For parents, it's a way to intervene when you may not otherwise know your loved one is considering self harm." Strategist, Editor, Podcaster
SYDNEY ALLEN-ASH is a strategist, a writer, and a podcaster. Her practice is grounded in deep research and interdisciplinary collaboration. She likes working upstream, at the beginning of new initiatives, and is adept at steering major projects with many stakeholders from idea to execution. Born outside of Toronto, Sydney studied Fashion Communication at Ryerson University. She joined Virtue, Vice Media Group’s creative agency, in 2016 as a social strategist managing a major telecom client. She grew quickly into a cultural strategist role where she was tasked with helping brands authentically and sustainably engage with communities. In 2019, she relocated to Vice’s New York City headquarters, where she led an effort to define Vice’s values for the first time in its 30-year history, redesigned the company’s onboarding protocols, led the development of Vice Media Group's first company website, and oversaw the development of an internal app designed to keep their global workforce connected to one another, to management, and to the work they produced together. Since leaving Vice in 2021, Sydney has focused on projects that leverage her experience in transforming organizational dynamics while also providing opportunities for her to pursue subjects of special interest. In her writing and podcasting, she dives deep into the interstitial zones bridging athletics, race, history, equity, art, and popular culture. Sydney’s interest in podcasting developed out of her experience as a host and moderator—a role she’s taken on time and again in her career, moderating panel discussions, helming interactive workshops, conducting live artist interviews, and even hosting a short documentary produced for On Running. Presently, Sydney edits Early, a magazine about the culture of labour published by HR consultancy Bright + Early, writes and produces Toenails, a podcast about running, history, and the future of sporting culture supported by Ciele, and teaches a course in Design Thinking at Toronto’s George Brown College.
