I'm an individual who dreams to heal the world and make it a better place. I always have higher expectations and larger goals in life. I'm fearless and independent and aim to achieve every single goal I set for myself. I'm not afraid to speak up or learn something new. I believe that I can do my little to improve my society and make it a better place for those that deserve it. The journey of our thought process from our minds to voices is hard. We're afraid to publish our ideas. Instead, we keep them locked in, away from what the world has to offer. Learning to speak up and being our own confident selves is the first step towards making yourself a world worth living. And that is what I believe in.

As a Sr. in high school I rolled a car texting and driving at 20 MPH, nearly killed my best friend, shattered my skull and changed my life forever. I quickly learned that I needed to stay focused on my future. Being focused isn't just about not texting and driving, but about passion, motivation, and true goals. After five open brain surgeries and half the right temporal lobe of my brain being removed, I now have a beautiful daughter, am a licensed pharmacy technician, and have overcome the odds of what the doctors have told me time and time again about what my future would be. Passion to move forward and learn is an amazing thing to me. It is understanding what needs to be looked at and when to put down the phone.

Stephanie Arnold has always followed her gut instinct. It helped her survive and thrive in the television industry for 27 years, producing and directing television shows like the US Hispanic version of “Deal or No Deal,” a music video starring Julio Iglesias, and the New York Magazine Awards show. Her shows garnered several nominations including Emmys and Premio Lo Nuestros. It was that gut instinct that also helped her take charge and survive the birth of her second child. For months before her delivery date, Stephanie had premonitions that she would die as soon as her son Jacob was born. On May 30th, 2013, Stephanie suffered an amniotic fluid embolism (AFE), a rare and poorly understood condition that caused her body to go into anaphylactic shock and hemorrhage. She had acute organ failure and literally died for 37 Seconds before doctors were able to restart her heart and stabilize her. After a series of surgeries, blood transfusions three times her blood supply, a medically induced coma and kidney dialysis, the doctors at Northwestern Memorial Hospital called Stephanie’s survival a miracle, and said she survived because she had a team in place that was prepared. She agrees, but the doctors will tell you they were prepared because Stephanie prepared them. And Stephanie will also tell you when she thought no one was listening, someone actually was.

A native of Philadelphia, PA, I left home at the age of 17 to pursue higher education. I earned my Ph.D. in educational psychology from the University of Northern Colorado, an M.S. in counseling from the State University of New York, and a B.S. in psychology from Cornell University. As my educational background suggests, I have a lot of formal education about the human condition. A resilient survivor of childhood trauma, I also have plenty of personal experience to speak to the human condition. I have used most of my experience in various academic settings. I taught psychology at community college, and private and state universities. I have experience in a variety of presentation formats including large lecture, small seminar, and experiential teaching. My topics of motivation and learning address mental, emotional and physical well-being, parenting for healthy outcomes, successful learning and overcoming childhood trauma for adults. I have been supporting adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse since 2010 when I founded Talking Trees, Inc., an empowerment organization that encourages survivors to live openly to heal. In November 2017, I was recognized for my work by the Colorado Springs Business Journal among their selected “Women of Distinction” honorees. In March 2018, Ms. Magazine Blog featured my article about adult survivors within the Me Too Movement, and I have appeared in several other media outlets since then to raise awareness, including ABC News radio, Dr. Dave Podcast, and Iowa Public Radio. Writing and publishing empowering literature is a major platform for me and I a regular contributor on several sites, including medium.com, Upjourney.com, and Talkingtreessurvivors on FaceBook. My memoir has been suggested as "required reading" because some people refer to me as a real-life hero. In addition to authoring four books, I hold an unpublished poetry collection of over 150 poems. I am also a spoken word artist.
