Let’s face it: you can’t escape technology. Smartphones organize your life, computers help you work, and tablets promote efficiency on the go, which is why 5.5 billion people use technology daily.
But people aren’t born with the skills to use these devices. Learning how to use technologies doesn’t take long, but it requires time. Public speaking can speed this process up for corporations introducing new technologies.
Public speaking is the act of talking to a group of people. It might sound a bit scary at first, but with practice, it can be a powerful way to share ideas and information. When it comes to digital adoption, public speaking can help make the transition to using new technologies easier for employees.
This article will help you unlock digital adoption through effective speaking skills by exploring specific skills and how speaking publicly can promote the employee digital adoption process new technologies efficiently, saving money and fostering innovation.
There are several ways to promote digital adoption. Public speaking alone won’t help employees to use a new CRM or collaboration tool, but it can play a significant role alongside other methods. The first way to ensure public speakers promote digital adoption effectively is by ensuring their information is simple and clear.
One of the most essential aspects of public speaking is making sure the audience understands what you are saying and why it’s beneficial for them and their role. When introducing new technology, you need to explain things in a way that is easy to understand.
Some people might find digital tools complicated, but a good speaker can break down complex ideas into simple steps they can implement naturally.
For example, imagine you are teaching someone how to use a new phone app. Instead of talking about technical details, a good speaker would explain the app in a way that feels friendly and approachable, explaining how to open the app, use its features, and why it’s useful.
Alternatively, you can try a DAP (digital adoption platform) from Walkme if employees prefer to learn independently and train as they work.
This approach helps people feel less overwhelmed and more confident in trying the new technology, speeding up the digital adoption process and saving money and time.
Public speaking is also about making people feel comfortable and confident. When people feel nervous about trying something new, they are less likely to do so. As a speaker, it is your job to build up their confidence. If you are calm, positive, and clear in your speech, your audience will feel more at ease.
For instance, when presenting new technology, it’s essential to acknowledge that it’s okay to feel unsure at first. You might say, “It’s perfectly normal to feel confused, but don’t worry—step by step, we’ll get through this together.” These encouraging words can help your audience feel like they can succeed and that learning to use the new digital tools is possible.
When speaking to a group, connecting with the people you are talking to is essential. This helps keep their attention and makes them feel like the information is important to them. Public speakers often use eye contact, a friendly tone and even ask questions to maintain audience engagement.
When introducing digital tools, consider how they can help the audience in their own lives. For example, if you show a group of people how to use an online shopping website, you might talk about how much time and effort it can save them. By focusing on how the technology benefits them personally, you create a connection that encourages them to try it.
Public speaking isn’t just about talking—it’s also about listening. When you speak to an audience, you should encourage them to ask questions and share their thoughts. This makes them feel like their opinions matter and gives them a chance to clarify any confusion.
In a digital adoption setting, people may question how to use a new tool or what to do if something goes wrong. A good public speaker will make it easy for people to ask questions and give answers clearly and reassuringly. The speaker will also help people feel more comfortable with the technology by addressing concerns and giving feedback.
One of the best ways to help people understand how useful new technology can be is by sharing success stories. Public speakers often use real-life examples to show how things work. When people see that others have already tried and succeeded with digital tools, they are more likely to try them.
For example, you could share a story about a business that used a new software program to improve its workflow. When others see how this software helped the business save time and make more money, they will feel more confident in trying it themselves. Success stories are inspiring and show that digital adoption is not only possible but also rewarding.
Consider these skills to promote digital adoption through excellent public speeches to employees.
When done correctly, public speaking has the power to drive digital adoption success. It can allow people to embrace and use new digital tools, drive organizational innovation that lasts several years, and make change a part of company culture.
When public speakers explain things using simple language, connect with their audience, and express ideas with positive energy, they can make people feel at ease about learning new tools, making their role more straightforward and efficient.
The goal is to help people feel comfortable and excited about using new digital tools; public speaking skills are the key to unlocking that success.
Whether you are teaching someone how to use an app, a website, or a new device, a speaker’s words can make a big difference in helping them take the first step toward a successful digital transformation, saving money and time and promoting innovation, productivity, and growth.
